Just like Protech AMS, Brian Bruffey Jr. has a knack for simplifying the complicated.
When a trade or professional association is on the hunt for a new association management system (AMS) to supercharge staff productivity and solve complex business problems, they may encounter Brian. Why? As a sales engineer, it’s Brian’s job to help association executives understand that association management software doesn’t have to be so complicated.
Changing Paths
Brian wasn’t always a sales engineer at Protech. He kicked off his career at Protech helping customers optimize the use of their AMS. During his time as a solution consultant, Brian cultivated a useful skill: finding new ways to make work simpler for associations.
After a few years, Brian’s career path changed. And while he enjoyed his time helping associations solve complex business problems using Protech AMS, Brian leaped at the chance to join the sales team to help potential customers see what they were missing.
Now a sales engineer, Brian can be found digging through the latest Microsoft releases to find new and innovative ways that Protech’s Microsoft Dynamics 365-based AMS to help association staff spend less time on database management and more time nurturing member relationships. And Protech CRO John Bjorn enjoys watching Brian work his magic.
“The way Brian engages and educates his audience on our platform is a pleasure to watch,” said Bjorn.
Never Stop Learning
Association executives never stop learning, and the same attitude applies to Brian. As Protech develops more tools to association professionals, Brian’s desire to continuously expand his knowledge puts him in position to set organizations up with the best AMS solutions for their needs.
“The AMS market is constantly evolving, so it’s vital for us to stay informed on the latest tech trends and adapt our system accordingly,” Brian said.
And like all of his colleagues at Protech, Brian has a careful eye on the association space. He has been particularly impressed by the speed in which member-based organizations were able to toward virtual events in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic threw everyone for a loop.
Protech Connections Run Deep
Brian has been connected to Protech long before he could even say the word “software.” The Bruffey family launched Protech Associates in the mid-1980s, and many of his relatives still work on the team today.
But for Brian, the Protech family extends even further.
“My colleagues are the best,” he said. “I learn a ton from everybody and have so many lifelong friends here.”
When he’s not hard at work, you can often find Brian crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay. He also enjoys gaming, attending live music concerts (prior to the pandemic), cooking and more recently, homebrewing.
