AI and Instructional Design: What’s Now and What’s Next?

Instructional design is entering a period of rapid change. AI can now generate learning objectives, course structures, scripts, assessments, and translations in minutes. Tasks that once took weeks are becoming automated. But the real shift goes beyond faster production. Learning is moving away from static courses toward systems that respond to performance in real time. AI, simulations, digital twins, and other emerging technologies are beginning to deliver practice, guidance, and feedback directly in the flow of work.

As these tools evolve, the role of instructional designers will change as well- less time producing content, more time designing learning systems that improve real performance. In this session, Dan Streeter will explore how instructional design is changing today, what it may look like by 2036, and what learning teams can start doing now to prepare.

Register now for the Association Tech Expert Series on Wednesday, April 1st at 1:00 PM ET as Dan Streeter, CEO. Mission Fuel, presents on “Instructional Design 2036: What’s Now and What’s Next.”
