If you have spoken with Karin McGaw via telephone or met her in person, then you probably have an idea of how contagious her “glass–half-full attitude” can be. Her sunny disposition shines through no matter if she is discussing an upcoming trip to the beach or helping clients with implementations.
Karin serves as a data conversion specialist and MX consultant at Protech. When customers launch new projects, she assists them with retrieving legacy data and converts the data into an appropriate format that can be imported into the customer relationship management (CRM) system. As an MX consultant, Karin facilitates MX online setup and helps configure the web parts to fit customers’ needs. Additionally, Karin is in the process of obtaining her Microsoft Dynamics CRM Customization and Configuration certification.
Prior to joining Protech in the late 1980s, Karin, a Frostburg State University alumnus, acquired six years of IT experience from her previous jobs. The Montgomery County, Maryland, native was Protech’s fifth employee, so she dates back to a time when the staff worked from home. In fact, she started working remotely again more than a year ago, after moving to Millsboro, Delaware, to be closer to her sister.
Karin savors any time she spends with family, especially with her husband Ron, her oldest daughter Kelly, and her triplets: Jessy, Katie and Matt. Since she does not have to fight the usual traffic to travel to Delaware’s beaches, Karin considers herself an avid beach goer. When not at the beach, you can find her engaged in activities that keep her fit such as walking her dog, Cosmo, playing tennis, or working up a sweat in body pump or cycling classes at her gym. In the past, she has served as a volunteer walker for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, D.C., Chicago and New York City.
Whether Karin is testing her limits during a workout or assisting a client with a data conversion, she keeps this mantra in mind, “If you stay positive and think positive thoughts, good things will come to you.” Karin also urges customers to adopt a similar mindset prior to an implementation, by anticipating the systems’ benefits and then envisioning how it will enhance the membership experience.
