Protech Mobile App Enhances AHLA Conference Experience

The American Health Law Association (AHLA) is focused on legal issues in the field of healthcare. AHLA serves more than 12,000 members who work in health law with educational institutions, corporations, public entities, law firms, and consulting firms. Its members represent all facets of healthcare, including physicians, hospitals, health plans, health insurers, nursing facilities, consumers, and more.

The Challenge

AHLA had previously used an event app, but neither staff nor attendees found it easy to work with. The app also lacked an integration with AHLA’s CRM, Protech. AHLA staff noted that push notifications in this solution were clunky and difficult to set up.

As the association moved toward a return to in-person events in 2021, the AHLA team knew they had to find a better solution that would be more user-friendly for staff and members and fully support the 12 to 13 events they produce each year.

Protech’s Solution

With Protech Mobile, staff can enter sessions directly into the Protech CRM without the need for double entry. They can easily edit any details to tailor the sessions to the unique event.

Push notifications in Protech Mobile are much easier to set up and schedule, and last-minute messages can be sent right away to notify all attendees of session updates. For example, the association can quickly share any changes or corrections with rooms, times, or presenters, or offer timely briefs on general conference happenings. AHLA staff like knowing they can reach attendees quickly through this reliable functionality.

AHLA reports that they like Protech Mobile’s more modern look and ease of use. The app is intuitive, offering an easily navigable menu and better in-person experiences. Using the “My Schedule” feature, attendees can easily look up and save sessions. AHLA enabled the “Share Photos” function in the app and reported positive changes in attendee engagement at the annual meeting and other AHLA events.

AHLA uses Protech Mobile to support each of its events, from its annual meeting with approximately 1,200 attendees to more focused programs with just 100 to 120 participants. AHLA staff highlight that setting up larger conferences in the app requires no more effort than some of their smaller events. This ease of use is key for them, with team members indicating that they now rely on a straightforward, simple checklist for event setup.

The AHLA team sees real benefits from using the Protech Mobile dashboard. For example, they can access metrics on how many attendees are downloading and using the app. Staff can view the number of connections attendees are making and report that many are chatting with each other through the app. Additionally, the AHLA team can see and report impressions and click-through rates on sponsor ads.
