Even though Mary Ann has been with Protech for 24 years, do you really know her? To most, she’s a shining star that has worn many hats, specifically as a principal consultant, trainer and implementer on customers’ solutions. She has also been recognized through her certification in Microsoft Dynamics GP Financials and as a Microsoft Certified Professional for Microsoft Dynamics. But who is Mary Ann? 

Mary Ann grew up in Laurel, Md., and obtained her accounting degree from the University of Maryland, but in late 2013, she returned to her roots and purchased the home her granddad built in 1949 in West Virginia. This spurred an interest in her family’s lineage as Mary Ann states that, “the area is not brand new, but I’m seeing it with brand new eyes.” Since returning, she has learned more about the coal miner tradition on both sides of the family, and tracked one side of the family back to the 1700s. 

The move to West Virginia also opened up many new opportunities to feed her interests in travel, music and the outdoors, from hiking the trails of the New River Gorge (her goal is to hike them all!) to enjoying southern West Virginia culture at local events. She’s especially interested in live music venues, with traditional and bluegrass music most likely to catch her attention. She also enjoys showing off her musical acumen at venues across the region as part of R Journey, where she sings and plays guitar – though she recently starting playing the mandolin as well. 

Mary Ann is thrilled to be able to share her family’s rich history and the beauty of West Virginia with her three children: Brian (31), Erin (23) and Amanda (20). And now you really know Mary Ann Roberts, too!
